ActionAid  campaigns against poverty through work with communities, and providing information, aid and lobbying on food and farming, health, education, and disaster relief.

 

CAFOD The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development

 

Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland who work wherever the need is greatest – irrespective of religion or race.
 

Intermediate Technology (ITDG)  specialises in helping people to use technology for practical answers to poverty, including energy, shelter, transport, food production, water and sanitation, and manufacturing.

 

Oxfam is a development, relief and campaigning organisation working to find solutions to poverty around the world. There are links to Oxfam shops, Fair Trade food and products from their site.

Survival International Survival International supports tribal people, helping them to protect their lives, lands and human rights through campaigning, education and funding.

World Development Movement (WDM) campaigns tackle the root causes of poverty by working together with people in the developing world to change the policies of governments and business that keep people poor.

Environmental Issues

 

Greenpeace exists because this fragile earth deserves a voice.

One of Greenpeace's many campaigns concerns our forests. The plants and animals that live in these forests face extinction. Many of the peoples and cultures who depend on these forests for their way of life are under threat. See the save or delete campaign

 

World Wildlife Fund known worldwide by its panda logo, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) leads international efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats.

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)  acts to improve animal welfare by reducing commercial exploitation and trade, aiding animals in distress, and preserving habitat for animals.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)  believe that "animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment". Find information on animal rights issues and consumer advice, as well as their famous anti-fur campaign.

Peace Issues

 

The Control Arms campaign is jointly run by Amnesty International, the International Action Network on Small Arms and Oxfam. It aims to build global pressure for an International Arms Trade Treaty, and has produced reports on issues surrounding the arms trade.
 

Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT)  campaigns to end the international arms trade, and the UK's role in it as one of the world's leading arms exporters.
